Holiday Advice (From Leroy Groodle)

Summer holidays, a time to relax

By Leroy Varcoe, director of wellbeing

Hello human and happy holidays!

My name is Leroy, a Groodle and the Gembridge team’s favourite colleague. I hear that the holidays and summer are coming. As an expert in relaxing, walks and wellbeing, I thought you might like to know my advice for how to make the most of this time, and how to make your time with loved ones PAWsome.

Leroy’s Tips

1.     Take lots of naps

When you’re on summer holidays, it’s a great time to catch up on a daily nap… or two… or three! This is especially important after a big meal, which of course you have shared some of with your furry friend.

2.     Soak in the sunshine

Take time to enjoy the sun with your pack of furry and human friends and family. And since the summer sun stays out for longer… we can stay out even longer before we and the sun have to have another nap.

3.     Have a BBQ

Throw whatever you want to on the BBQ, just make sure you share some with your furry friends.

4.     Play!

Play lots of games of fetch, run around a playground or jump through a sprinkler. Just have fun!

5.     Go to the beach

I LOVE going to the beach, just like you can see in my picture. I like to catch frisbees, walk around, run down to the water, splash around and roll in the sand. I think humans like all of these things too, but you may want to put a towel in between you and the sand.

6.     Stay cool

Make sure you have plenty of water for your furry and human family members. It’s important so you don’t get overheated on those hot summer days. I like being groomed to get rid of excess fur. I’ve seen my humans put their hair into something called a ponytail. I’m not sure why they have to bring ponies into it, but apparently it helps them cool off.

7.     Show some love

Furry AND human friends and family love to be shown love. I like ear scratches and pats. My humans like hugs and kisses. But we BOTH like cuddles and just sitting together. Over the summer, it’s a great time to show those around you how much you love and appreciate them.

I hope you enjoyed my tips for a great summer. I think they’re good for both furry friends and humans. Give them a try and have a pawsitively pawesome summer!
